Practice Whole Body Wellness
No matter the issue plaguing the women I work with, there always comes a point when each woman gets stuck.
They can’t continue with the practices that worked for them for so long, or the old issues are too strong to battle, or new issues rise up to prevent them from moving forward. You know this place. It is NO fun!
Do you know the very first thing I tell them to do? (In my own way, this is such a joyous part of the therapy and coaching process.) Most of them expect me to tell them to come in more often, or to just “power through it,” or something like that.
That is soooo far from what works in reality.
I tell each and every one of them to get to their wellness practitioner of choice A.S.A.P. Then, they are to come back to me when their body issues are cleared up or taken care of.
Yep, I let ‘em loose and let ‘em go.
You see, our emotions, behaviors, and our thoughts are not separate from our physical bodies. When our body hurts, that affect our emotions. When our emotions are hurt, that affects our thoughts. When our thoughts hurt, that affects our bodies. It is all connected. ALL of it.
I do believe, in completeness, that if you change one thing, you can and will change everything.
Next time you are stuck, try this. Instead of beating yourself up about “taking 3 steps backward” or “failing” or “[insert other negative thought of the day],” simply go take care of your body.
Visit your chiropractor.
Get a massage (and I’m not talking about one of those fluffy relaxing kind; I’m talking about deep tissue muscle work).
Find an acupuncturist you adore.
Hire a personal trainer to shed those 5lbs you keep talking about.
Go see the herbalist or nutritionist you keep meaning to visit.
Then, re-decide how you feel, how you think, and what your next step forward will be. I bet you will be delightfully surprised to notice that you have moved past being stuck, and into forward motion.
(My MOST favorite part of helping women conquer their own lives is in the return visit to me, after their focus on body wellness. It moves me to tears to see each woman take the step from “fix my mind” to “I am working on being whole-body-well.”)
